Cruinniú Tuismitheoirí Múinteoirí

Beidh ár gcruinnithe tuismitheoirí-múinteoirí ar siúl do gach páiste ó Rang na Naíonáin Mhóra go Rang a 6 ar an Máirt agus Céadaoin seo chugainn, an 22 agus 23ú Samhain óna 3.00 go 5.30 pm ar an dá lá. Chun coinneadh a dhéanamh chun bualadh le Múinteoir do pháiste, cur ephoist chuig an oifig ag runai@osrai.com ag lorg an am is fearr a oireann duit agus déanfaidh Eibhlín gach iarracht an t-am is fearr a fháil duit. Luaigh chomh maith dearthaireacha nó deirfiúracha chun gur féidir linn na cruinnithe a chomhordnú más féidir.

Ná dearmad gur deich nóiméad an t-am atá leagtha amach duit agus má tá gá le cruinniú breise amach anseo gur féidir sin a eagrú níos déanaí. Buailfidh clog na scoile ag deireadh do thréimhse agus cuireann aon faid ar d’am isteach orthu siúd a thagann i do dhiaidh. Is féidir roinnt oibre a dhéanamh roimhré tré féachaint ar thuairisc deireadh na bliana seo chaite agus ar an nasc seo chun ceisteanna cuí  a bheith réidh agat. http://www.schooldays.ie/articles/making-the-most-of-parent-teacher-meetings

Ná dearmad chomh maith gur chóir don gcumarsáid leis an múinteoir a bheith oscailte agus béasach ar an dá thaobh, rud a mbíonn de ghnáth.

We look forward to seeing you for our annual parent-teacher meetings for all children other than Junior Infants, next Tuesday and Wednesday the 22nd and 23rd November. The meetings will take place between 3 and 5.30 pm on both days and school will close at 2.30 pm on both days. To make an appointment to meet your teacher on those days, please email Eibhlín in the school office at runai@osrai.com Please indicate your preferred time and also mention brothers and sisters and we will do our very best to find a suitable time for you where possible.

Please remember that your allocated time slot is 10 minutes and that the school bell will sound at the end of each slot. If you fell you need further time at the end of the session, then a follow-up meeting can be arranged if necessary. Remember that continuing beyond your time affects all those who come afterwards. You can prepare for the meeting by discussing with your child how they are getting on, by looking at their end of year report from last year and by preparing any other question you think you need to ask. You’ll find some hints here. http://www.schooldays.ie/articles/making-the-most-of-parent-teacher-meetings

Please also remember the policy of our school in relation to communication with teachers applies at the meetings. Positive and professional communication is the best way to get the best information across and will make for a better way of us all working together to further every child’s learning.

Díolacháin Leabhair

Mar is gnách, beidh díolácháin leabhair na bpáistí ar siúl ar an dá lá chéanna. Is Coiste na dTuismitheoirí a eagraíonn an díolachán le siopa leabhair Khan’s sa chathair. Beidh deis leabhair a cheannach ag na páistí i rith an dá lá agus agatsa iad a cheannach leo i rith an dá tráthnóna. Ná dearmad go bhfaigheann an scoil céatadán árd na ndíolachán i bhfoirm leabhair don leabharlann agus don scoil.

As usual, our annual book sale takes place on the same days as the parent-teacher meetings. Our parent’s association organise the sale along with Khan’s bookshop in the city and there will be a huge range of books, both as Gaeilge and in English to buy, many at very reasonable prices. Please remember that a large percentage of the sales are donated to the school in extra books for our school library and classroom reading schemes.

Boscaí na mBróg

Táimid ag bailiú boscaí na Nollag arís chun cur go páistí san Aifric agus in oirthear na hEorpa atá ar an ngannchuid. Is tríd an charthanacht Hope go bhfuil seo á dhéanamh. Is an Chéadaoin seo an 16ú Samhain an lá deireanach go bhfuilimid ag glacadh le na boscaí agus tá billeog le na sonruithe i mála do pháiste. Míle buíochas don iarracht seo a mbaineann ár bpáistí an-taitneamh as gach bliain.

We are once again taking part in the annual Christmas Shoe Box appeal for the Hope charity. The boxes will be sent to children in disadvantaged families in Africa and Eastern European countries and there is an information leaflet in your child’s bag outlining what should be placed in the boxes. We thank you for your support for this project which the children enjoy hugely and which helps us all to think about families who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Buíochas don lá ghléasadh na Samhna

Míle buíochas don méid airgid iontach a tugadh isteach ar lá laethanta saoire na Samhna. Bhí an-sport ag na páistí ar an lá agus tá siad le feiscint anseo ar Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSsu0ytzjUQ . Tugadh isteach breis is €578 d’ionad Uí Néill sa chathair.

Many thanks again for your support for the Hallowe’en fancy dress day. We all had great fun and you can see the parade here on our Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSsu0ytzjUQ More than €578 was collected for the local O’ Neill Centre which does such fantastic work with special needs children in our community.

OCG

Beidh múinteoirí do pháiste ag díriú isteach ar chuid Oideachas Caidreamh agus Ghnéasachta de chuid an ábhair Oideachas Sóisialta, Pearsanta agus Sláinte don gcuid eile don dtéarma seo. Má tá aon cheist agat faoi cad atá á chlúdú, gheobhaidh tú cuid de na freagraí anseo. http://cmsnew.pdst.ie/sites/default/files/ParentInfoLeaflet.doc

Your child’s teacher will be concentrating on the Relationships and Sexuality section of the Social, Personal and Health Education curriculum for the rest of this term. You will find some information at this link as to what will be covered. http://cmsnew.pdst.ie/sites/default/files/ParentInfoLeaflet.doc We look forward to your support with this topic and we ask you to have open and appropriate discussions with your children as part of the process.

Super Troopers

Táimid ag tosú clár nua, Super Troopers, a bhaineann le cleachtadh coirp na bpáistí. Beidh dialann ghníomhaíochta ag teacht abhaile le do pháiste agus iarraimid ort do pháiste a spreagadh chun a chinntiú go bhfuil uair a chloig ghníomhach á dhéanamh acu gach lá, idir baile agus scoil. Cabhróidh sé linn ar fad chun b’fhéidir cur lenár gcleachtadh coirp mar chlanna.

We are beginning a new programme called Super Troopers which is being run across the country. You will get an activity diary for each child in the next few days and we would ask you to support us in ensuring that every child in our school gets an hour of physical movement each day, both inside and outside of school time. This may help us all to increase our physical activity in the run-in to Christmas. It is also complementary to the wonderful work done on healthy eating before the November break

Polasaí agus Seachtain Lóin Sláintiúil

Bhí seachtain iontach bunaithe ar bhia slaintiúil againn don tseachtain roimh an bhriseadh. Bhí an halla lán go barra don gcruinniú iontach le Dónal O’ Shea agus Ellen Roche agus fuaireamar aiseolas iontach ó gach éinne a bhí i láthair. Do dhein an Choiste Scoil ag Spreagadh Sláinte obair iontach don tseachtain ar fad agus táimid an-bhuíoch dóibh. Táimid buíoch chomh maith do na hurraitheoirí ar fad a chuir duaiseanna agus bia sláintiúil ar fáil. Bhí Avonmore an-flaithiúil mar shampla le luach beagnach €2,000 d’anraith a chur ar fáil dúinn. Iarraimid oraibh leanúint ar aghaidh anois ag cinntiú go bhfuil lóin chomh sláintiúil agus is féidir ag do pháiste chun cur lena bhfoghlaim agus sláinte.

We were thrilled with the reaction to our first Healthy Eating Week organised by our Health Promoting School committee before the November break. We had a packed house for the meeting featuring Prof. Donal O’ Shea and Ellen Roche and the feedback from this event and indeed the whole week has been hugely positive. We thank the committee for all their fantastic work and also our sponsors for all the assistance they gave. As an example, local company Avonmore, who produce their soup in the city gave us an incredibly generous donation of almost €2,000 worth of soup for every child in the school. We hope that you will now join us in ensuring that our children continue to have the healthiest lunches they can to help their health and indeed learning power.

Comhdháil Ghaeloideachais

Bhí Comhdháil iontach ag Gaeloideachas, an t-ainm nua ar an eagraíoocht náisiúnta do na Gaelsoileanna ar fad in Óstán an Ormonde ar an Aoine agus an Satharn seo chaite. Cuireadh tús iontach leis an chomhdháil le cóir agus grúpaí cheoil Ghaelscoil Osraí agus Coláiste Pobail Osraí ag cur fáilte roimh na múinteoirí agus tuismitheoirí ó thimpeall na tire. Bhí moladh iontach ó gach éinne a bhí i láthair don dtaispeántas iontach a thug na páistí agus bhí gach éinne ónár scoil thar a bheith bródúil astu. Míle buíochas do Mhúinteoirí Fiona, Ruth, Méabh agus Rós don obair iontach ag réitiú na bpáistí don ócáid agus do Chlár Kilkenny don dtionlacan.

There was a wonderful occasion last weekend when over 250 delegates from Gaelscoileanna and Gaeltacht schools and naíonraithe from around the country came to the Ormonde Hotel for their annual conference. One of the highlights was the wonderful welcome from our own and Coláiste Pobail Osraí’s choirs and grúpaí cheoil. The quality of the singing and playing was hugely praised by all the visitors and we are hugely thankful to Múinteoirí Fiona, Ruth, Méabh and Rós for all their hard work along with Clár Kilkenny for her accompaniment.

Grúpa Cheoil agus Cór

Anois an t-am chun a bheith pairteach i gcór agus grúpa cheoil na scoile. Now is the time to get involved in our school choir and traditional music group. We are hoping to see a big increase in the boys and girls taking part in both. There are a number of big occasions coming up, including the annual Lion’s Club Christmas concert in December and Kilkenny Music festival and our own confirmation ceremony in February. Please let us know if your child would be interested. Those who represent our school in music are every bit as important as those on any of our sporting teams.

Bille Scoile-Buaiteoir

Táimid thar a bheith buíoch don líon mór daoibh atá bille scoile íoctha agaibh do bhur bpáistí. Mar a gheallamar, do bhí tarrac an tseachtain seo chaite agus is Ciara de Siún agus a tuismitheoirí Gavin agus Ann a bhuaigh aisíoc iomlán ar an mbille scoile dá bharr. Comhgáirdeachas dóibh agus ná dearmad gur féidir leat an bille scoile a íoc ag aon am tríd an suíomh idirlíon.

A huge thanks to all of you who have helped us to have more of our bille scoile paid than at this time of the year in many years. As we promised, we held a draw last week for those who had fully paid up their child’s contribution. The winner was Ciara de Siún and her parents Gavin and Ann. Well done to them and they now receive a full refund of their child’s bill. Remember you can pay at any time now through the school website on the Pay Now tab and we will perhaps hold another draw at a later date.

Sicíní

Tá cúig sicín álainn taréis teacht ar an saol inár scoil le cúpla lá. Is tionscnamh iontach í seo atá Múinteoir Jennifer taréis rith i gcomhpháirt le Nore Valley Farm i nDroichead Binéad. Slí iontach í seo chun an churaclam eolaíochta a dhéanamh beo do na páistí-agus an fhoireann!!

We have welcomed five new chicks to our school in the past week in a special incubator provided by Nore Valley Farm in Bennettsbridge. This has been a hugely educational way to allow all our children to see the science curriculum in full reality. Thanks to Múinteoir Jennifer and her naíonáin beaga for their great work on the project.
