Nuachtlitir na Nollag 2018

Nuachtlitir na Nollag 2018

Mar a deir amhrán na Nollag, ‘Tá an Nollaig buailte linn is tá ár stocaí lán.’ Táimid ar fad ag súil go mór le briseadh na Nollag agus guímid gach rath oraibh agus bhur gclanna ag an am speisialta seo. Cuimhnímid orthu siúd a chailleamar i mbliana, go háirithe ár n-iar scoláirí iontacha James, Táilliúir agus Rebecca agus Daidí na scoile Keith. Ar dheis Dé go raibh said.

As the Christmas song says, Christmas has arrived and our stockings are full up. We are looking forward to a restful break for all and we wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas and happy and healthy New Year. We hope that we all get time out to think of the magical story of Christmas and enjoy the time together. We also remember those we lost during the year, particularly our wonderful past-pupils James, Taylor and Rebecca and one of our Dads, Keith. May the memories of their lives bring some consolation at this difficult time for their families.

Laethanta Saoire

Críochnaíonn an scoil ar an Aoine seo an 21 Nollaig ag 12.00 meánlae. Tiocfaimid ar ais ar scoil ar an Luan an 7 Eanair.

School finishes at 12.00 noon sharp this Friday the 21st and we will return to school on Monday the 7th January.

Ceolchoirm an Naíonáin/National Media Star

Bhí ceolchoirmeacha iontacha na Nollag ar siúl ag na naíonain mhóra agus beaga inné san halla. Míle buíochas do Mhúinteoirí Bríd, Ruth, Máise, Áine, Deirdre agus Síle don obair iontach a deineadh agus na múinteoirí eile ar fad a chabhraigh leo. Tá áthas an domhain orainn go bhfuil Arabella Ní Dhálaigh ar phríomh-leathanach an Irish Times AGUS an Irish independent ar maidin. Míle buíochas do Pat Moore don bpictiúir álainn. Comhgáirdeachas chomh maith d’ár ngrúpa cheoil traid na scoile agus cór na scoile as sár-thaispeántas i gceolchoirm na Leoin san Ardeaglais le déanaí.

We had our wonderful Christmas dramas from the naíonáin yesterday and we thank all the teachers listed above, along with Claire Kilkenny for her accompaniment. We are delighted that Arabella in Naíonáin Mhóra steals the limelight with the lead picture in both today’s Irish independent AND Irish Times.

Congratulations also to Cór na Scoile and our trad music group who performed so wonderfully at the recent Lion’s Club celebration in St. Canice’s Cathedral. Thanks to Múinteoirí Ruth, Rós, Proinnsiasa, Sylvia and Fiona for their fantastic preparation of both groups.

Sábháltacht ar an gclós agus páirceáil

Le bhur dtoil an féidir a chur in iúil do pháistí go bhfuil sé tábhachtach súgradh i slí sábhálta i dtimpeallacht na scoile le meas againn ar gach éinne timpeall orainn. Chomh maith le sin, iaraimid oraibh cluí le rialacha na scoile ó thaobh páirceáil do. Tabhair aire gan páirceáil riamh i spásanna an fhoireann, i gcarrchlós na múinteoirí nó na háiteanna díreach in aice an phríomh gheata iontrála go bhfuil Foireann marcálta orthu.

Chomh maith le sin, táimid ag iarraidh ar pháistí ó na ranganna naíonáin bheaga go Rang a 2 súgradh ar an dtaobh sóisearach don gclós ar maidin ar eagla timpiste le na páistí níos sinne.

Could you please emphasise to your children the importance of playing safely in our school grounds. We encourage children to be active, while being conscious of others around them. Rough play and name-calling should be avoided. One of the requests we are making is that children from infants to Rang a 2 play in the Junior end of the yard in the morning before school in case of accidents with bigger children playing football and basketball.

We also ask you to avoid parking in staff parking areas during and immediately after the school day. These include the designated staff parking area to the left of the main entrance which should never be obstructed and the designated parking area marked ‘Foireann’ immediately to the right of the main entrance. Please also use the drop-off area strictly for short stops to help with traffic flow. Once again, we remind you that using the neighbouring car parks in LIDL , ALDI and Supervalu cuts down on congestion and as a Green school we encourage as many children as possible to walk or cycle to school.

Féilire/Túaillí Tae 7rl

Tá obair iontach déanta ag Sylvia Ní Mhaoileoin agus ár gcoiste na dtuismitheoirí iontach nua le déanaí. Tá tuáilí tae deasa le ealaín na bpáistí orthu seolta abhaile go an-chuid tithe, bhí tráthnóna iontach na scannáin sa scoil ar an Domhnach agus tá féilirí na scoile 2019 díreach tagtha ar maidin. Tá an tairgead ó na tógraithe iontacha seo ag dul i dtreo áiseanna sugradh ranga, go háirithe don gclár Aistear do na naíonáin.

Our wonderful new Parents Association have been hugely busy in recent weeks. Many of you have gotten the novel tea-towels, decorated with your children’s art, the Coiste hosted a wonderful Christmas movie evening on Sunday which raised more than €540 and just this morning the 2019 calendars have arrived. Proceeds from these events will go towards purchasing classroom play materials, particularly as part of the Aistear programme in the infant classes. Special thanks to all the local businesses who sponsored the various initiatives.

Scoil IldánaTá an obair ar an dtionscnamh Scoil Ildána ag leanúint ar aghaidh. Tá ár gComhlach Ildána, Lára Ní Fhlaibhín ag obair lenár gcoiste nua chun féachaint ar cad a dhéanann ár scoil mar scoil chruthaitheach agus chun plean don dtodhchaí a chur le chéile . Chuireamar fáilte roimh Tom Duffy ar maidin a d’oibrigh le na coistí Scoil Ildána agus Scoil Ghlas ag ceangal an dá théama don dtimpeallacht agus an ealaín le chéile. Más maith leat cabhrú linn in aon slí mar thuismitheoir, bheimid an-bhuíoch.

Our work as one of only two selected Kilkenny ‘Creative Schools’ continues apace. Our Creative Associate, Lára Ní Fhlaibhín, appointed by the Arts Council, is working with our new Creative Schools Committee looking at what we do to encourage creativity in our school and making a plan as to how we can do even better in the future. Just today, we have artist Tom Duffy working with our Creative School and Green School committees to link the themes of environment and art together. If you are interested in helping out in any way as a parent, please let us know.

Bille Scoile

Míle buíochas daoibh ar fad go bhfuil an Bille Scoile íoctha go hiomlán nó fiú cuid do go dtí seo. Beidh tarrac ar siúl againn do na daoine atá íoctha go hiomlán ar an Aoine agus gheobhaidh duine amháin aisíoc ar bhille amháin do dhuine sa chlann.
