Once again a huge thanks to all of you who have paid your school bill to date. As you know, we rely on these payments to fund many vital activities in the school. Your child may benefit from the school book rental scheme from Rang a 2 upwards and the bill also covers the cost of extra PE activities which we as a school have continued to provide with your support, including our Irish dancing and swimming classes. Please pay online by clicking on the ‘Pay Now’ button on www.osrai.com or you can pay any amount to the school office at any time.

Members of Óglaigh na hÉireann, our defence forces, from Stephens Barracks, Kilkenny, will visit us on the 27th January to present our school with our national flag and framed copy of the 1916 proclamation. This will be a very special day for our school and parents are welcome to attend.

Beidh an chéad chruiniú d’ár mbord bainistíochta nua ar siúl go luath. Gabhaimíd buíochas mhór do Dhónal Ó Rinn atá taréis eirí as an mbord taréis ocht mbliain mar bhall agus mar chisteoir na scoile. Tá Múinteoir Brian ag seasamh siar chomh maith agus an-obair déanta aige mar ainmní na múinteoirí ar an mbord. Fáiltímid roimh John Grace mar ainmní nua na dtuismitheoirí agus Múinteoir Nioclás mar ainmní nua na múinteoirí.

The first meeting of our new board of management will take place in the coming weeks. We are hugely grateful to departing parents’ representative and treasurer of the board, Daniel Ring, who has given eight years of dedicated service to the board, particularly steering us through challenging financial and development times in the past few years. Múinteoir Brian is standing aside as teachers’ nominee on the board after a four year period and we are grateful to him also for his sterling work. We warmly welcome John Grace as our new male parents nominee and Múinteoir Nioclás as our new teachers’ nominee. The new board will serve until 2019.

Iontráil 2016.

Cuirimid i gcuimhne duit ainm aon pháiste atá ag lorg áit sa scoil i Mí Meán Fomhair 2016 a bheith istigh láithreach. Beidh na háiteanna á dháileadh go luath i mí Feabhra agus muna bhfuil ainm do pháiste thíos, tá an baol ann nach bhfaigheadh siad áit. Cuirimid i gcuimhe daoibh gur chóir do pháiste a bheith réidh, go fisiciúil, ó thaobh foghlama do agus go sóisialta chun tosú i mbliana. Má tá do pháiste chun a cheathrú breithlá a shroichint taréis mí Aibreán, molaimid go láidir smaoineamh ar fanacht bliain eile chun scoil a thosú.

We remind you that the names of all children seeking a place in our school for this coming September should be submitted urgently. Places will be allocated early in February and if your child’s name is not on our list, they may fail to get a place. We also remind you that your child should be ready in every way to begin school, physically, socially and from a learning point of view. If your child’s fourth birthday falls after April 1st, we would strongly advise you to consider waiting for another year before your child begins school. Please also let us know of ANY learning or developmental difficulties your child may have as we must apply for resources before mid-February to avail of them in September.

Playball

Tá ranganna an chomhlachta Playball ag tosú arís sa scoil i ndiaidh am scoile an Déardaoin seo.

Classes with the Playball company begin again on this Thursday after the end of school.

Boscaí na Nollag

Táimid an-bhuíoch do gach éinne a thug isteach boscaí na Nollag go Team Hope. Cuireadh 313 bhosca go dtí paistí bochta thar lear agus táimid cinnte gur chuir siad go mór le Nollaig na bpáistí sin agus a gclanna. Míle buíochas do Mhúinteoir Maria a d’eagraigh an ócáid sin arís i mbliana.

We are very thankful to everybody who prepared and brought in their Christmas shoebox as part of our efforts to help children in poorer countries and in difficult circumstances. 313 boxes were sent by Team Hope from our school and we are sure those boxes made for a much happier Christmas in the homes in which they were received. Well done to Múinteoir Maria D for organising the project again this year.

Rith Séamus Stiofáin

Táimid fíor-bhuíoch do Chumann Séamus Stiofáin atá ag tabhairt leath don airgead a bailíodh ar lá an dreoilín (lá le Stiofáin) san siúl agus rith 5 agus 10k. Ar lá úafásach, ba Múinteoir Siobhán mar phríomhoide Tánaisteach na scoile a chuir tús oifigiúil leis an ócáid agus ghlac an-chuid páistí agus tuismitheoirí na scoile páirt ann. Míle buíochas as ucht bhur dtacaíocht agus tá súil againn gur tús maith le tréanail don Rith Beo a bhí ann!

We are very grateful to our old friends in James Stephens GAA club who generously donated half the proceeds of their St. Stephens Day fun run and walk to our school. Many of our students and parents took part, despite the awful weather and the event was officially started by our Deputy Principal, Múinteoir Siobhán. We hope it helped to work off some of the turkey and pudding and that it will inspire many of you to start the training for Rith Beo 2016! If anybody has sponsorship cards or donations to make for the run, please send in to Múinteoir Nioclás this week.

Lá gan éide scoile
